The Iron Man 2 Trailer Rocks

The story seems a bit textbook, but there are a lot of concepts I am dying to see in this movie. The first is of course the practice battle betwen Iron Man and War Machine. The second thing I want to see is that SUITcase at the very end of the trailer. It makes the concept of a battlesuit extremely possible for our real life military. I can’t wait to see it.

The President had a Beer with Citizens on the Lawn of the Whitehouse… A Beer Summit… How Cool is That?!

I couldn’t believe it when I heard that the president was trying to settle a major conflict between Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Sgt. James Crowley on the lawn of his presidential home; a conflict that should never have been major. It is awesome. I have never heard of a president going out of his way to settle the problems of the citizens personally. Usually it is done through legislation or the court system or something other than getting personally involved.

This is one of the things that I really like about President Obama. He gets in there and spends time with the people he leads. The other big thing is he drinks in public. He has a beer socially. I can’t remember any other president ever doing that. Right after he was elected, he was observed going to a basketball game and drinking a beer. He is real. He is American. I just have to say I am impressed.

What do you think?

Ironman The Movie May Just be the Best Comic Movie I have Ever Seen

First of all… I have never read any of the comic books about Iron Man, so I have nothing to compare the movie to. I got to enjoy the storyline for the storyline in the movie. If you know the story ahead of time, you are usually looking for differences between the movie and what you have read. This goes for just about any movie adaptation of any book or comic.

*SPOILERS* Stop reading if you have not seen the movie yet.

I think that Iron Man is a great character. A man who is trying to make things right when he finds the weapons that He invented are falling into the wrong hands, he has to do something. Being captured by these wrong hands and forced to create the weapons of mass destruction that he is known for is the pushing point that makes him want to make things right. He builds a suit of armor out of the things around him and blows his way out of danger.

The wittiness in this movie is just hilarious. Tony Stark is constantly making jokes and talking to his machines like they were his best friends. His computers have what seems to be Artificial Intelligence. They almost act human, especially the one that keep trying to put out the fire that isn’t really there.

The soundtrack on this movie is cool. They are using a lot of old ’70s and ’80s rock. It brings a kind of nostalgia to the movie, plus it just makes Iron Man look really Bad-Ass.

The effects in the movie are nearly seamless. You wouldn’t even know that a lot of the scenes were CG if you didn’t know that some of the things that they did were nearly impossible. Iron Man can fly supersonic speeds. You even get to see him hit that sound barrier. He also has some awesome weapons in his arsenal that just seems to fit the “Get Even” attitude that Iron Man has.

Over all Iron Man is just a fun movie. You get to see what drives Stark to build the suit and what makes him go out and destroy the people who are using his technology to try to take over the world. Through it all, the writing is funny… including the Operation Game scene. You’ll have to watch the movie to see what I am talking about.
